About Marywood Girls College
The school, formerly a Government school, was handed over to the archdiocese of Lagos on the 17th 0f March 2008. His Eminence, Antony Cardinal Okogie, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese, rebuilt it and handed it to the Sisters of St. Louis to manage. The then Provincial leader of the Sisters of St. Louis, commissioned Sr. Christiana Adegoroye (the pioneer Administrator) and Sr. Mary Ogunjobi to the school on the 25th of August 2010, to ensure the take- off of the school.
The first set of students resumed on the 8th of January 2011. They were 21 in number and the school was officially opened on the 22nd of January 2011.
The population of the school rose to 36 by the end of the session. Marywood Girls College, Ebute –metta West, Lagos was formerly called Marywood Girls Grammar School, is now owned by Lagos Archdiocese. The school strives for academic excellence in the context of a caring Christian community with the added emphasis of an educational provision relevant to the modern age in which we live and work.
As at present, the school has a population of 110 students, 18 academic staff, 14 non-academic staff and an administrator.Marywood Girls College is situated in Lagos Island. Her motto is “God Wills It’’. The School is a faith-based Catholic school.
